How to get more productive work done in the same 24 hours

Technology was supposed to save time. But is it actually?



In this era of technology almost everyone of us has a smartphone and an addiction to it, for most part we simply give and excuse to check our phone for something important but we don't. we simply check because we want to, and this is causing a bigger problem then we think. We're being kept struck to our phone through multiple factors which has a very bad effect on both your mental and physical health and our relationships with others and ourselves. Here are some factors responsible for it along with the fix for them:-

1. Social Media

This is the first and foremost top priority topic to be discussed, social media was created to find our loved ones,who are at distant lands and have a good conversation, share some moments, for artist to share their works, for professionals to expand their business, but now things have changed social media has become a hub for dopamine , the chemical inside our body which is released when we achieve something bigger such as winning a war in ancient times, or writing a book in today's world, but we are struck to our phones scrolling endlessly, posting the fakest of ourselves to get more views more likes,more comments, so called more friends and followers. and when we don't get it we try to push ourselves. This has caused a stir in today's generation to post as much as they can to get more and more followers. BUT this is not something which can't be fixed, the simplest of solution will be to record your time on social media and try to shorten it. try to see what the person is in reality. find friends in real life they will be more helpful than a tons of online friends.

2. Recommendation Algorithms

You see something interesting on YouTube, you like it and comment on it. Later you'll see similar videos more on your home feed, same for Instagram the user whose pictures you liked the most and who posts a lot will be in your feed more often as compared to the one who don't, the same logic applies to all the social media and content providers Reddit, Pinterest, even your google feed. We can't fix these algorithms because they are made in such a way that you spend more time indulged in those apps. but you shouldn't be! you should be focusing on your dreams on your goals and should be thinking about your business, not to be drooling over someone else's. The fix? try to use these websites/ apps only when needed, you need to watch a tutorial then open YouTube,search it and close it after you watch it. want to see some ideas for your desk or your room, go to Pinterest or Reddit and search and as soon as you are satisfied, close it and get back to work.

3. Heath Issues

Well, its kinda obvious we are getting less sleep and on top of that we don't get quality sleep due to high screen time and unbalanced schedule. our phones/computer screens emit blue light, which disturbs our natural sleep cycle that's why it is advised to not use your phone for one before going to sleep, but that is something we all know, our devices does not affect us only in this way, we tend to bend our neck downwards while using our phones or laptops which is a great trouble and causes neck and back pain and to such an extent that  tiny bone start growing at the back of your head, you can read about it here:‘Horns’ are growing on young people’s skulls.
to fix this you should try to put your phone/computers away from you one hour before going to bed, and while using your devices try to sit with your back straight in a natural position and not hunching forward and keep your devices at eye level while using.

4.Excessive Dopamine

Imagine a poor person with just enough money to buy a fair square meal everyday, he'll be happy and satisfied eating that, but let suppose he gets a good sum of money and starts eating delicious good food everyday and he's used to that food, now if we offer him his old plain food he won't be able to enjoy it and eat it. That's the same case with our brains when we do regular things such as study and reading there is a smaller amount of dopamine which is a pleasure giving chemical in our body, but when we watch movies and play games the level of dopamine increases and when we play for long times or watch too many movie and shows our brain gets used to it. and when we get back to our studies we will be unable to concentrate and study because our brain is now like the rich person,eating delicious food and not eating the basic. and this causes lack of interest. to fix this you should try to do a dopamine detox: try to limit you phone/computer usage to minimum and use your time to do other stuff such as reading books or studying this will help your brain get back to normal state because dopamine and seratonin (another chemical responsible for pleasure) are linked with depression because they damage your brain and thus everyday life seems boring.
